Chapters 9 & 10

I don't know what happened to make Scout do what she did. Well I knew she hated Francis, but I didn't think it would go ths far. They were okay most of the night. After dinner I came out and checked on them, reckoned they were fightin' by now, but they were just standin' there, so I went back in. I stayed in there for a while, thought since they weren't fightin' now, they wouldn't, boy was I wrong. Next thing I know, I hear Francis screamin' for Aunt Alexandra. I run out and I saw Uncle Jack beatin' Scout. I got the story from everyone. Francis was callin' Atticus, well Atticus told us not to say it, but you know what I mean...black man-lover. Scout told him to stop, but he kept goin' and goin' and Scout had enough. I don't blame her, but she could've handled this better, so she wouldn't have to of get beaten.

Scout is always sayin' how Atticus can't do nothin' 'cause he's old, now I don't completely disagree, but he is kinda old. Now for Christmas, me and Scout got air rifles and we wanted to go in the woods and use them. We were just lookin' and walkin' 'round when we saw ol' Tim Johnson and he was lokin' real sick. We wen back to the house and grabbed Calpurnia. We took her to the spot where we saw the dog and she yelled at us to get inside. She called Atticus and then she started screamin' "RAPID DOG, MAD DOG" all over the town. When Atticus arrived with Heck Tate, the sheriff, Tim Johnson was already at the Radley gate. Heck and Atticus were arguin' 'bout who's gonna shoot the dog. After a little bit, Heck handed the gun to Atticus and Actticus shot the dog...perfect aim. We had asked Miss Maudie and she said that our dad used to be Old One-Shot Finch. Scout was ready to tell the whole school 'bout this, but I told her that if Atticus didn't tell us, maybe he didn't want us to know. So we kept it a secret and found that Atticus isn't too old to do stuff.

Scout chapters 7 & 8

It was the last night that Dill was here before school started. We were on our way to the Radley place cause' Jem and Dill wanted to try to see Boo Radley, I thought it was a bad idea, but i didn't want to be left out again. We got there and Dill was lifted onto Jem's shoulders to get a good look, but we heard something that scared us and we ran as fast as we could to the fence to get away. I got through the fence easily, but Jem had some trouble, he ended up havin' to leave his pants there. When we went to the crowd of people, Mr.Radley had a gun and said that whoever was in his yard better not come back cause' he will shot em' and then everyone looked at Jem. I turned and saw that he still didnt have pants on, he was gonna get in so much trouble, but Dill made up a story bout' us playin' strip poker or somethin'. It worked. That night as we was sleepin' i heard Jem get up. He said he had to go and get his pants so he wouldn't get in trouble. I wanted to go, but he said I couldn't. I waited up for him and when he came back he didn't say nothin', he just went to bed, I didn't ask what was wrong.

I looked out the window and didn't really understand what I was lookin' at. Atticus tod us it was snow. Jem wanted to make a snowman, but we didn't know how. Jem just started gatherin' dirt from the back yard, I did as I was told. I followed Jem over to Miss Maudie's and he asked if we could use her snow and she let us have it all! Jem started building a snowman outta mud and then he started to cover it in snow. It looked just like Mr. Avery. Atticus told us to disguise it so no one would notice. Later on I was woken up by Atticus with Jem standin' right next to him. They told me to get up. We walked outside and I saw that Miss Maudie's house was flamin'. Atticus told us to stand by the Radley place. The night went on and more people were comin' out and helpin' with the fire. It was freezin' out! After a little while an the fire went out, we went back to the house. Atticus asked me where I got the blanket that was 'round my shoulders, but I had no idea how it got there. Jem said he figured it was Boo Radley, I shuttered at the thought. The next day we offered Miss Maudie help, but she said no and she was auall jokin' bout Boo and the blanket. I found it weird that she was in a good mood after her house burnt down, but I didn't ask any questions.
